Courtyards and streets were flooded in Turkestan and Kentau cities and Baidibek, Ordabasy, Sauran districts of Turkestan region in Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reports.

The flooding of courtyards and streets occurred due to heavy precipitation such as rains and heavy snowmelt in mountainous areas, which caused a rise in the water level, followed by overflow down the slope, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

Military personnel of the Ministry of Defense were also involved in the fight against floods. 100 soldiers of the Armed Forces, firefighters, Jasyl Arys specialists, volunteers of the youth resource center prepared and sent sandbags to the rural districts in the expected flood zones. River flow and water levels are monitored at duty posts.

Active snowmelt and precipitation led to the overflow of the largest natural canal Kabylsai, which flows into the Arys River, which flows near the city of the same name and numerous villages.

Rescue units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations continued to work all night on pumping out water and laying sacks with inert material.

Rescuers evacuated 204 people and 201 heads of small cattle from flooded courtyards of Karnak village, Kentau city, Sauran and Baidibek districts. Administration prepared four evacuation points in Sauran district for the temporary accommodation.
