The United States has welcomed the agreement in principle reached between Sri Lanka and the Official Credit Union on the terms of debt restructuring in line with the parameters set out in the International Monetary Fund’s program.
American Ambassador Julie Chung has issued this welcome.
Singh said the deal has paved the way for Sri Lanka’s economic stability.

He also emphasized that this agreement is important for Sri Lanka to receive the next tranche of the IMF bailout package.
He also said that this agreement will provide much needed financial assistance for economic stabilization, recovery and progress.
