Kyrgyzstan Plans to Import up to 2.2 Billion Kwh of Electricity This Year


Kyrgyzstan will import up to 2.2 billion kWh of electricity in 2023. This information came from the annual review meeting within the Ministry of Energy chaired by Deputy Chairman of Cabinet Bakyt Torobaev.

More than 50 small hydropower plants should be constructed this year as instructed by President Sadyr Japarov, Bakyt Torobaev said.

Bakyt Torobaev required from line agencies to provide power companies with necessary equipment, to accelerate implementation of projects on renewable energy sources.

Accumulation of 8.6 billion cubic meters of water in the Toktogul dam is planned until April 1, 2023.

Coal consumption across the country makes 2.997 million tons. Use of heating oil makes 48,500 tons.
