Another earthquake hit Tajikistan


Today, March 9, at 06:37 local time, an earthquake was registered in the country, the Committee for Emergency Situations under the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan reports.

It is noted that according to the Institute of Geology, Seismic Engineering and Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, its epicenter was located 366 km southeast of the city of Dushanbe, 90 km west of the Murgab district of GBAO.

The strength of the tremors in the epicenter was 4 points, and in the Murgab district – 2 points.

There are no casualties or destruction, the CoES stressed.

Meanwhile, according to media reports with reference to the network of seismic stations of SOME LLP of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, the epicenter of the earthquake was 50 km from the border of China. Energy class of the earthquake 11.7. MPV magnitude 5.7. The depth of the source was 25 km.

Recall that in recent weeks, dozens of small earthquakes have occurred in Tajikistan.

The most powerful shock happened early in the morning on February 23 near Murghab.

After a strong earthquake in Turkey and Syria, which destroyed hundreds of buildings and killed tens of thousands of people, the Committee for Architecture and Construction of Tajikistan decided to test the seismic resistance of new buildings in Dushanbe, Khujand and Bokhtar.
